Solos are for trombone 2 or trumpet 2, and tenor 1. A rhythm section instrument solo can substitute in place of the first solo section if desired. The short vamp at m. 13 can involve interplay between any number of players and can be extended or kept short.
The dynamic marking “m” is used throughout to indicate “mezzo”, or medium volume, in place of the more typical “mf” and “mp”.
Instrumentation: [5, 4, 4, 4] lead alto doubles soprano and second trumpet doubles flugelhorn.
