As recorded by the Valley Jazz Orchestra on the album Vicious Fishes
approx. 6:30. An adaptation of a piece originally recorded on the album Justin Morell TriOrange. This instrumentation existed in an earlier draft and was revised in 2024 for the Lebanon Valley College Valley Jazz Orchestra. Mirroring the original recording, it opens with a guitar, piano, and bass trio in which the piano and bass play the melody. The optional voice part doubles the melody here. As the ensemble joins in, the melody is passed around and imitated across the full range of instruments. The first tenor has an extended solo. After a final short tutti passage, the piece closes again with the quiet chamber trio of the introduction.
Instrumentation: [5, 4, 4, 4] soprano, alto (doubles flute), 2 tenor, baritone saxophones; trumpets 3 & 4 double flugelhorn.
