Recorded on the Valley Jazz Orchestra album Vicious Fishes

approx. 9 minutes.  This piece features fairly simple, often homophonic, textures against a backbeat shuffle feel.  The first alto and first trumpet tend to have the melody notes atop the chordal homophony, so those parts should remain clear in the balance.  The passage beginning at m. 43, and similar, use individual parts to create a composite bass line.  These parts will need to be aligned exactly for the effect to work.  Dynamics are essential throughout and should be interpreted toward the extreme ends of the spectrum.

Instrumentation: [5, 4, 4, 4] 2 alto, 2 tenor, baritone saxophones

Solos:  Alto 1 and Trombone 1, with some moments of piano and drum fills
